Salary Range:
Grade 11 (Credit Analyst I): $55,885 - $83,591
Grade 12 (Credit Analyst II): $61,924 - $93,419
Position is open to placement at either level. Levels are differentiated based on experience.
POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides approvals on credit applications by evaluating financial information, developing financial analyses, and interpreting and applying Association credit standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Credit Analysis
- Analyzes credit worthiness by:
- Developing long and/or short term financial projections based on customer financial data
- Analyzing capital, capacity, collateral, conditions character and management ability of the borrower
- Comparing the borrower’s overall financial position to industry and core lending standards and guidelines
- Identifying potential risks of the proposed loan
- Interprets financial data for credit assessment
- Assists and recommends loan structure and conditions
- Collaborates with senior credit staff on loan approvals
- Determines loan classification, probability of default and loss given default ratings
- Completes accrual earnings reconciliation as needed
- Remains updated on the industries serviced by the assigned office and/or business unit
- Completes industry specific research to validate key cash flow projections
Loan Administration
- Communicates the status of loans in process with internal credit, sales, and operations to insure coordination between external client and GSFC
- Works closely with sales team to complete financial counseling with key clients
- Monitors the loan performance for the organization
- Meets with customers to collect financial information and discuss new loan opportunities
- Answer calls, prepare documents and requests for customer as needed
Data Security and Confidentiality
- Appropriately protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’ data

Credit Analyst II duties will also include:
Credit Analysis
- Meets with, collects, and enters data from customer and potential customers into internal software.
- Analyzes financial data and makes recommendations for loan structure, terms, and conditions.
- Prepares the narrative for short form analysis loans. Assists credit officer in preparation of more complex loan narratives.
- Provides accurate financial analysis for complex client relationships by utilizing various software systems.
- Qualifies and validates financial information utilized in the credit decision making process.
- Recommends approval of credits that meet the conditions under credit scoring procedures.
- Monitors database exception reports to ensure proper financial, collateral, and loan classifications are accurate.
- Provides accurate financial analysis for complex client relationships by utilizing various software systems.
- Qualifies and validates financial information utilized in the credit decision making process.
Training and Mentoring
- Mentors staff on business policy and procedures and best practices
- Provides functional training on operating systems, loan origination software and ad hoc analysis programs
- Develops and presents training to less experienced analysts and market facing staff on information gathering, loan structure and analysis techniques
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Knowledge in reading and interpreting tax returns, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flows and similar financial documents
- Knowledge in loan structuring and negotiating loan terms and conditions
- Knowledge of the agriculture, financial and real estate industry and applied business mathematics and principles (preferred)
- Working knowledge of the agriculture industry and the impact of current events on agricultural operations and credit
- Must be able to use computer technology and a wide variety of software applications including Microsoft Office Suite applications, automated underwriting and loan origination systems, current software, and other office tools
- Must be able to converse and communicate with customers using the English language
- Ability to work effectively with both external and internal customers in a professional, respectful manner
- Skill in analyzing information and problem solving to formulate logical and objective conclusions
- Solid knowledge of credit processing and servicing activities, accounting principles and practices, credit analysis procedures, and credit administration
- Sound decision making, negotiating, and influencing skills
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
QUALIFICATIONS:
Credit Analyst I - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, ag business, agriculture, business, finance. No experience required.
Credit Analyst II - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, ag business, agriculture, business, finance and 3-5 years of experience in credit related work
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Positions in this class typically require: keying, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen; and/or extensive reading.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. This position requires approximately 10% travel time.
