Salary Range:
Grade 11 (Credit Analyst I): $57,283 - $85,681
Grade 12 (Credit Analyst II): $63,472 - $95,754
Position is open to placement at either level. Levels are differentiated based on experience.
POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides approvals on credit applications by evaluating financial information, developing financial analyses, and interpreting and applying Association credit standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Credit Analysis (CA I 70%)
- Ability to use various loan and loan analysis software
- Spreads customer’s tax returns, balance sheets, and/or CPA prepared financial statements in our spreading software
- Analyzes credit worthiness by:
- Developing basic long and/or short-term financial projections based on customer financial data (multi-year projections)
- Analyzing capital, capacity, collateral, conditions, character and management ability of the borrower
- Comparing the borrower’s overall financial position to industry and core lending standards and guidelines
- Ability to do basic Security Capacity Repayment analysis
- Ability to verify assets and liabilities using various tools
- Writes basic narratives where purpose, strengths, weaknesses, collateral, conditions, character, and management ability of the borrower are discussed. The ability to write the capital section and capacity section would be a more advanced undertaking.
- Completes accrual earnings reconciliation as needed
- Collaborates with credit staff on loan approvals Determines loan classification, probability of default and loss given default ratings
- Participates in the ongoing design of processes to provide exceptional service, achieve satisfactory credit administration goals, and result in achievement of targeted credit quality with adequate compensation for risk
- Orders appraisals
- Opening and ordering preliminary reports from a Title Company.
Credit Analysis (CA II 70%)
- Ability to use various loan and loan analysis software
- Analyzes financial data and makes recommendations for loan structure, terms, and conditions
- Provides accurate financial analysis for customer relationships by utilizing various software systems
- Reviews financial information provided by borrower, determines adequacy of data and requests additional data as needed
- Determines best approach to consolidating and utilizing the financial data to make a credit recommendation
- Qualifies and validates financial information utilized in the credit decision making process
- Spreads customer’s tax returns, balance sheets, and/or CPA prepared financial statements in our spreading software
- Analyzes credit worthiness by:
- Developing basic and complex long and/or short-term financial projections based on customer financial data (multi-year projections)
- Analyzing capital, capacity, collateral, conditions, character and management ability of the borrower
- Comparing the borrower’s overall financial position to industry and core lending standards and guidelines
- Ability to do basic and complex Security Capacity Repayment analysis
- Writes narratives where purpose, strengths, weaknesses, capital, collateral, conditions, character, and management ability of the borrower are discussed
- Prepares more complex loan narratives with assistance from credit officer as needed
- Ability to reconcile net worth and working capital to operational earnings
- Interprets financial data for credit assessment
- Identifying potential risks of the proposed loan
- Ability to verify assets and liabilities using various tools
- Collaborates with credit staff on loan approvals
- Determines loan classification, probability of default and loss given default ratings
- Remains updated on the industries serviced by the assigned office and/or business unit
- Completes industry specific research to validate key cash flow projections
- Ability to figure out what information is necessary for any loan action request, including renewals and obtain it from a customer
- Meets with, collects, and enters data from customers and potential customers into internal software
- Qualifies and validates financial information utilized in the credit decision making process
- Orders and reviews appraisals
- Opening and ordering preliminary reports from a Title Company, along with the ability to analyze title searches
- Monitor past dues as assigned by Team Lead
Loan Administration (30%)
- Communicates the status of loans in process with internal credit, sales, and operations to insure coordination between external client and GSFC
- Works closely with sales team to complete financial counseling with key clients
- Answer calls, prepare documents and requests for customer as needed

- Appropriately protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’ data

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Knowledge in reading and interpreting tax returns, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flows and similar financial documents
- Knowledge in loan structuring and negotiating loan terms and conditions
- Knowledge of the agriculture, financial and real estate industry and applied business mathematics and principles (preferred)
- Working knowledge of the agriculture industry and the impact of current events on agricultural operations and credit
- Must be able to use computer technology and a wide variety of software applications including Microsoft Office Suite applications, automated underwriting and loan origination systems, current software, and other office tools
- Must be able to converse and communicate with customers using the English language
- Ability to work effectively with both external and internal customers in a professional, respectful manner
- Skill in analyzing information and problem solving to formulate logical and objective conclusions
- Solid knowledge of credit processing and servicing activities, accounting principles and practices, credit analysis procedures, and credit administration
- Sound decision making, negotiating, and influencing skills
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
QUALIFICATIONS:
Credit Analyst I - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, ag business, agriculture, business, finance. 0-2 years of experience in credit related work
Credit Analyst II - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, ag business, agriculture, business, finance and 3-5 years of experience in credit related work
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Positions in this class typically require: keying, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen; and/or extensive reading.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. This position requires approximately 10% travel time.
